The civil complaint that was filed by the McCann family against Gonçalo Amaral and other defendants will begin to be tried on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at the Civil Court of Lisbon, from 9.30 a.m.
Other trial sessions have been scheduled for the 13th, 19th, 20th and 27th of September.
At the heart of this trial lies Gonçalo Amaral's book "The Truth of the Lie", which tells the story of the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in Praia da Luz, on the 3rd of May, 2007, until the day that Mr Amaral was removed from his post as coordinator of the Portuguese Judiciary Police's office in Portimão.

Over the weekend I read the English translation of 'The Truth of the Lie'. Given the frustration of the case, Mr Amaral expresses himself with grace and without bitterness and should be commended. Portugal has reason to be proud.
ReplyDeleteThe facts presented within this book come as no surprise, already in the public domain. The conclusion of extremely poor parenting skills of all those involved is a truism and the reader does not need any prompting.
It is baffling as to what the court case is about. The publication offers no 'big' reveal or 'kiss and tell' outrage often associated with book marketing. So why does this particular presentation of the known facts merit the attention of a court of law?
When the book is made available for sale in the U.K, I would recommend it. The writer's style is engaging with a warmth and humanity that is an inspiration. The kind of book ideally suited for a short flight to a holiday in the Algarve.
Be strong Dr Amaral, you have come so far for Madeleine, her parents couldn't even request a reopening of the case. The world is watching and apart from a minority supporting you. You are one courageous man that I hope wins this case hands down, then its your turn to take them to court for libel. Speak out for whatever you need from your supporters we are behind you 100%. I believe its your birthday if so , feliz cumpleanous from Spain. May the coming year be a lot better for you.

ReplyDeleteMr Amaral, I have so much respect for you and what you are doing. I have watched the full tv documentary that was banned by the McCanns and also will definitely read your book when it's available here in the UK although, from the very first time I saw the McCanns on tv, I saw right through them therefore, I long for the day when we finally see them arrested, charged and locked up for life. I hope you win your pending libel case and that you take the McCanns and their corrupt legal team back to court. I find your determination to reveal the truth, inspiring and through your dedicated hard work, I live in hope that we will all see justice for Madeleine. I will never understand why the McCanns are so protected by the UK government and police. Take care Mr Amaral and thanks for writing your book.

I pray for you constantly. May you have enough money and more to see you through this nightmare. You are not the perpetrator. Sadly, this world is controlled by evil pedophiles but not for much longer my friend change is a coming.
