Caros amigos,

Desde que foi fundada por Leanne Baulch em 29 de Abril de 2015, a página gofundme dedicada à defesa de Gonçalo Amaral recebeu donativos de mais de 50 mil libras. Estes fundos foram transferidos para a conta bancária detida pelo Dr Paulo Sargento e outros amigos de Gonçalo Amaral. Menos de metade deste valor foi dispendido até à data.

A conta Paypal associada à conta bancária recebeu cerca de 6 mil euros durante o mesmo período. Doações de menor valor foram também feitas directamente.

Pensamos que está na altura de encerrar a página gofundme, dado que a conta bancária se encontra provida com um valor que parece suficiente para fazer face a futuras despesas.

Enquanto aguardamos a sentença do Tribunal da Relação de Lisboa sobre o recurso aprsentado por Gonçalo Amaral, os fundos remanescentes permanecem na conta bancária. Serão utilizados conforme necessário no futuro. Quaisquer valores não utilizados serão, como afirmámos em 2009, oferecidos a uma instituição de apoio a crianças em Portugal.

Gostaríamos de aproveitar este momento para agradecer do fundo do coração a todos os que expressaram o seu apoio ao direito de Gonçalo Amaral a uma defesa adequada. Quer tenham contribuído financeiramente ou através de mensagens de apoio: vocês tiveram impacto. Vocês fizeram a diferença.

Sufficient

Dear friends,

Since it was started on April 29, 2015, by Leanne Baulch, the gofundme page dedicated to Gonçalo Amaral's defence has collected donations in excess of 50 thousand pounds. These funds have been transferred to the bank account that is held by Dr Paulo Sargento and other friends of Mr Amaral. Less than half of this amount has been spent on legal expenses for the defence of Gonçalo Amaral.

The Paypal account that is associated to the bank account has received over 6 thousand euro during the same period. Donations totaling a smaller amount have also been made directly to the bank account.

We believe that it is time to close the gofundme page, as the bank account currently stands at an amount that seems largely sufficient to face eventual future expenses.

As we await the verdict of the Appellate Court of Lisbon on the appeal that has been filed by Mr Amaral's lawyer, the remaining funds will be kept in the bank account. They will be used if necessary in the future. Any unused funds will, as we stated in 2009, be donated to a Portuguese children's charity.
